Why GBLA doesn’t mind its own business?

The so-called legislative assembly of Gilgit-Baltistan holds its regular sessions but instead of any productive legislation it cost millions of rupees to the poor nation every day. The house was established under the 2009 autonomy and self-governance rule issued by the then president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari. Ideally, it was supposed to make laws to facilitate the people of the area in living a comfortable life without any hindrances. But after about five years the house has become a white elephant doing nothing worthy. One reason why the assembly remains an idle house is that it has no power to legislate and its resolutions which it has been passing very fondly are of no worth as they are not binding on any institution or official. Bur irrespective of the issue of lack of powers, it has become a habit of the members of the house that they always spend hours in discussing and debating the issues of rulers in Islamabad and the problems of Pakistan as though they had a major role to play in the national politics of Pakistan. The fact of the matter is that majority of people in Pakaistan even do not know about the existence of this assembly what to talk about its role in national politics. A few days ago, a resolution was tabled in the house against the ongoing sit-ins in Islamabad during which some of the members came up supporting and others opposed the gathering. Looking at such tricks, one is often tricked to believe that the members of our legislative assembly also deserve to live because if they do not come up with such weird acts what would be the rationale for their existence at least they have to show their working. Now it is another matter that what role they have to play and what significance they would have in their debate on the sit-ins in Pakistan. Everyone knows that Gilgit-Baltistan is not a constitutional part of Pakistan but day in and day out dummy political figures in this region never tire of debating issues of Pakistan. Sometimes they are seen bringing up resolutions against and in support of Pakaistani leaders such as Nawaz Sharif and Zardari act. Though its is also a fact that Islamabad never accepts Gilgit-Baltistan as the constitutional aprt of the country but we are ready to become an uninvited guest and without any need get themselves involved in the affairs of Pakistan. It is about seven decades since the creation of Pakistan but the ruelrs sitting in Islamabad have yet to acknowledge the rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan have no right to send their elected representatives to the parliament of Pakistan and neither have they had the right to knock the door of the higher judiciary of the country in search of justice. Under the UN resolutions passed over six decades ago, the status of Gilgit-Baltistan is yet to be determined along with the Kashmir region. The rulers in Pakistan in order to hoodwink the people of the region have been implementing different packages in the region to run the affairs of the area on a day to day basis but these packages are not the final solution to the issue which has to be resolved under the UN mandate. Instead of highlighting the issue of the recognition of the national issue our politicians have been dancing to the dictates of their masters sitting in Islamabad. Pakaistan has also always used its paid agents in the region to keep the area people confused about the larger issue and continue its illegal rule in the area in order to plunder its resources and also make the international community believe that it was promoting democracy in the region and its people were well satisfied and well-off under its rule which are against the realities on the ground.
