Tributes paid to late nationalist leader

ISLAMABAD: Nationalist leaders, politicians and students leaders here paid glowing tributes to late Hyder Shah Rizvi for his meritorious services and life-long struggle for the rights of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.

They were speaking at a function held o the first death anniversary of Mr Rizvi here. The speakers included editor of Kargil International Magazine Ghulam Shahzad Agha, Sajjad Hussain, progressive leader Shabbir Maya, BNSO leader Sher Nadir Shahi, Sharif Kakar, Sadaqat Sahil, JKLF leader Faizan Mir and Usman Kashmiri.

They said that Mr Rizvi sacrificed his whole life for the services of the people of Gilgit-Baltistan. They said he also laid the foundation of nationalist struggle in the backward area of Baltistan despite all odds and created awareness among the masses about their rights. They said that late leader did not make only claims and promises but practically fought for the rights of the people and challenged the injustices and barbarism of the rulers of the day right from Baltistan to Chilas.

They said that had Rizvi wanted, he would have lived a luxurious life but he never thought of compromising on his conscience and the rights of the people and continued his struggle despite facing all odds of life. The speakers also said that the struggle of Rizvi would be a role model for all the nationalist leader and activists of Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir. The struggle he started would continue till the downtrodden people achieve all their rights, they vowed.
