GILGIT: PPP Gilgit-Baltistan spokesperson and former information minister Sadia Danish has ridiculed PML-Nís decision to allot party ticket to Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khanís son for the by-elections in Hunza.

In a statement, she said that despite the presence of scores of local party leaders and educated youth, the allocation of the ticket by the PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif showed the mentality of the ruling class who have been giving importance only to a single family. This also showed the democratic credential of the PML-N. she said that when the PPP was in power it worked hard to give representation to the people of Hunza by increasing the number of seats in the legislative assembly for the area.

She said that the PPP was taking part in the Hunza by-elections to fight the feudal politics and provide an opportunity to the common people to become the decision makers. She said that after allotting ticket to the son of the former ruler of Hunza, the PML-N government was only banking on its false promises of launching development projects in the area. But the educated youth of the Hunza valley are well aware of their rights and the shenanigans and hollow claims of the PL-N, she added.

The PPP leader expressed the hope that the people of Hunza would once again vote for Wazir Baig as he had worked sincerely for the area for decades and never compromised on principles and welfare of the people.
